Dr Sophy Korula is a Paediatric Endocrinologist and Paediatrician whose main aim is to provide compassionate care with clinical excellence to the children of this regional area.

Sophy completed her medical training at a large tertiary care centre called CMC Vellore in South India and completed her fellowship in Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes at the prestigious Children’s Hospital at Westmead in Sydney. For the last 15 years, Sophy has worked as a Paediatric specialist and most recently at Latrobe Regional Health where she has held public appointment for the last 3 years.

As well as being actively involved in medical education, Sophy has also authored a number of research publications.

Sophy has a strong focus on caring for the needs of children with Paediatric endocrine disorders and diabetes. Sophy also has immense experience in developmental and complex behavioral disorders and is keen to provide holistic treatment for children with those concerns. She has a good relationship with some of the service providers in this field within Gippsland. She has also been involved with the care of other medical problems in children, such as infant care, asthma and eczema.

A/Prof Arif Kozgar

FRACP, AFRACMA, PGCert Allergy

A/Prof Arif Kozgar is a general paediatrician with postgraduate training in allergy and a strong commitment to caring for children and their families. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Allergy from Imperial College London. After completing his paediatric training at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in Sydney, Arif moved to regional Victoria in 2018. He has since served as Consultant Paediatrician and Director of Clinical Training at Latrobe Regional Health, while also contributing to medical education and academic leadership as an Adjunct Associate Professor at Monash University and as Clinical Dean at the Monash School of Rural Health, Traralgon.

Arif’s commitment to evidence-based care and innovative practices is a driving force evident in his work at LRH. He has played a pivotal role in developing numerous clinical practice guidelines and establishing innovative practices such as antibiotic allergy challenge testing, oral immunotherapy for hay fever patients, and insulin pump therapy for diabetes patients. He has completed several quality improvement projects, and his contributions to research in the field have been published.

With extensive experience in all paediatric conditions, including neonatology, growth and development, ADHD and autism, paediatric endocrine problems, and specialising in diagnosing and treating a range of allergy conditions including food allergies, anaphylaxis, allergic rhinitis (hay fever), asthma, urticaria and eczema, Arif possesses the comprehensive knowledge and expertise to handle a wide range of paediatric health issues.

Dr Asmita Mankeshwar

MBBS, FRACP (Paediatric and Child Health)

Dr Asmita Mankeshwar is working as a Paediatrician at Latrobe Regional Health and Maryvale Private Hospital on a weekly basis.

Asmita completed a substantial part of her training in Victoria with her main areas of interest with newborns, allergy, developmental, rehabilitation issues, diabetes and general Paediatrics.

Asmita is involved in teaching at various levels from undergraduate to advanced trainees. Her areas of focus are simulation training, medical education and regional workforce sustainability. Timely, efficient and high-quality care is her goal. Asmita enjoys a close working relationship with primary care providers while family centered care is at the heart her clinical practice.
