Dr Sandhya Gupta

Dr Sandhya Gupta is an experienced Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with over 30 years of clinical experience across India, Papua New Guinea and Australia. For the last 20 years, Sandhya has worked as an independent practitioner as well as teaching in public and private large network healthcare sectors.

Sandhya is a strong believer of women centered care and has a keen focus on Gynaecologic laparoscopic surgery and cancer prevention strategies. The various services she provides include minimally invasive, traditional abdominal and vaginal surgery for a range of gynaecological conditions like endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome, prolapse apart from colposcopy etc.

Completing her MBBS in 1991, Sandhya then completed Diploma Gynaecology and Obstetrics in 1996 both while in India and received gold medals for high marks in each. She then attained her fellowship from Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology London in 2019. Sandhya then relocated to Australia and in 2022, attained fellowship with Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She completed training in advanced laparoscopy from University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein, Kiel, Germany, a world-renowned Gynaecology Laparoscopic centre.

Sandhya is a passionate educator, with a vast working history as senior lecturer and training undergraduate and postgraduate students across various hospitals. She continues to enjoy teaching trainees and medical students.

She established the Gynaecological Laparoscopy Unit in Papua New Guinea and performed the first Laparoscopic Gynaecological surgery in Papua New Guinea. Sandhya was also involved in the infection control committee of the hospital and the pilot project for the cervical cancer vaccine program for the Papua New Guinea country.

Sandhya has published many research papers as well as co-editing the WHO manual on fistula surgery and also co-editing a textbook ‘Ambulatory Urology and Urogynaecology’.

Sandhya consults and operates at Maryvale Private Hospital and holds public appointments at Central Gippsland Health Service in Sale and Latrobe Regional Health Traralgon.

Dr Raja Tewari

MBBS, CCT (UK), FRANZCOG, FRCOG

Dr Raja Tewari is a specialist Gynaecologist and Obstetrician with a double specialist qualification from RCOG (UK) and RANZCOG (NZ). Raja obtained his first specialist qualification from South London Deanery, NHS UK in 2013. During his specialist training, Raja had a great opportunity to be trained in different university hospitals in London, including one of the most prestigious, Guy’s and St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust.

Raja was awarded CCT (certificate of completion of training) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Advance Training Skill Module (ATSMs) in ‘Advance Labour Ward Practice’ and ‘Gynaecological Oncology’ from RCOG. Because of his special interest in Gynacological Oncology, Raja worked further to achieve advanced training as a Post CCT clinical Fellow in Gynae Oncology at Guy’s and St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust and University Hospital of North Midlands, Stafford (UK).

In 2015, Raja relocated to India and worked as Consultant Obstetrician and Lead Gynaecological Oncologist in one of the prestigious tertiary hospitals in Delhi NCR for five years, before moving to New Zealand in March 2020. RANZCOG awarded Raja his second specialist qualification, FRANZCOG after his assessment and specialist clinical work as a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist in Lower Hutt, Wellington NZ.

Raja moved to Australia in January 2022 as Head of Unit at Central Gippsland Health Service Sale where he worked for more than 18 months. Raja then moved to Traralgon and joined Latrobe Regional Health as a Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. Raja holds public appointment at both Latrobe Regional Health and Central Gippsland Health Service Sale.

Dr Carolyn Wilde

MBBS, FRANCOG

Dr Carolyn Wilde is a Gippsland local, finishing her schooling in Sale before completing a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at The University of Melbourne in 2004. The majority of her Fellowship in Obstetrics and Gynaecology was completed at The Mercy Hospital for Women in Melbourne, with the final two years in Ballarat and Western Victoria to gain more generalist gynaecology surgical experience in rural and regional settings. Her training included a focus on general gynaecological surgery as well as endometriosis surgery.

In 2016, Carolyn returned to Gippsland with her family and has held the role of Gynaecology lead at West Gippsland Healthcare Group over the last 7+ years.

Carolyns’ interests are surgical procedures for menstrual disorders, treating endometriosis and menorrhagia as well as advanced laparoscopic surgery including laparoscopic hysterectomy, endometriosis surgery and infertility surgery.

As a result of current medicolegal controversies around use of mesh for incontinence procedures, Carolyn will not be performing urogynaecology procedures and recommends referrals for urinary incontinence and repeat prolapse surgery be directed to a Urogynaecologist.

Dr Sarmistha (Sami) Choudhuri

FRANZCOG, FRCOG (UK), MD, MBBS (Gold Medals)

Dr Sami Choudhuri is a consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist with extensive experience in this field of medicine spanning almost twenty years. This experience is enriched by working in the UK, India, UAE and different tertiary hospitals of Australia in Sydney, Melbourne and Hobart. She has also thoroughly enjoyed caring for women in the North West of regional Tasmania while working as a private Obstetrician & Gynaecologist for three years.

Apart from gaining training in the UK, Dr Choudhuri worked as a Fellow in Maternal Fetal Medicine in tertiary Westmead Hospital of Sydney for a year and in Gynaecology Oncology in Sunshine Hospital. She took on a leadership role in running an outpatient hysteroscopy unit at Royal Hobart Hospital.

Various Gynaecological conditions managed by Dr Choudhuri include menstrual disorders, endometriosis, infertility, PCOS, contraceptive issues, chronic pelvic pain, vulvo-vaginal disorders, prolapse and urinary incontinence, cervical screening abnormalities.
She offers abdominal and vaginal hysterectomies, pelvic floor repair surgeries, sacrospinous fixation and TVT for SUI in selected patients.
She is experienced in laparoscopic surgeries of various Gynaecological conditions including management of ovarian cyst, ectopic pregnancy, AFS stage III endometriosis, infertility.

Dr Choudhuri loves to visit different places around the world and learn different languages. She also enjoys gardening and is a regular visitor/ member at the sale community garden.

Dr Anuradha Sarkar

Dr Anuradha (Anu) Sarkar completed her MBBS in 1984 with Honours in Gynaecology & Obstetrics. Anu then pursued a career in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in the Irish Republic where she completed her Diploma and proceeded to undertake Specialist Training in this Specialty and completed a FRCOG in 1998. Anu’s training encompassed various positions in Ireland and U.K where she worked several years to gain more experience.

Anu then emigrated to Australia in 2002 and worked at Monash and attained the FRANZCOG in 2004 from the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists.

Anu has been employed as a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist since 2005 in Gippsland providing services to Bairnsdale Regional Hospital, Central Gippsland Health and is consulting and operating at Maryvale Private Hospital.

Dr Haider Najjar

Dr Haider Najjar is an Obstetrician Gynaecologist who graduated in Medicine in 1992. He completed Obstetrics and Gynaecology training at Monash Medical Centre, where he also went on to complete a Fellowship in advanced Laparoscopic and Minimally Invasive surgery. During his time training at Monash, he received the Young Scientists Award from the International Menopause Society for his research in Premature Menopause. Dr Najjar was also awarded the Travelling Fellowship by the Australian Gynaecology Endoscopic Society for his work conducting laparoscopic training workshops for registrars.

Dr Najjar’s particular niche of clinical interest is Fertility Surgery and complex laparoscopic procedures, especially those utilising single incision laparoscopic surgery (SILS) and also robotic surgery. He is the pioneer of SILS procedures in Australia and internationally. Patients can be confident that they will benefit from the range of improved outcomes including cosmetic appearance with this surgical approach as opposed to conventional surgical procedures.

As the co-founder of Create Health and Create Fertility, he understands the complexities of infertility and provides an individualised approach to his care and management for his patients. His major forte of expertise in surgical management of infertility includes advanced laparoscopic surgery and management of endometriosis and fibroids. Dr Najjar has worked in the Monash Health service for over 20 years and been a consultant for the last 15 years. His private practice is based at Mount Waverley, but he also consults from Malvern, Berwick and Maryvale Private Hospital.

Dr Pam Cardoza

MBBS, MD MRCOG, FRANZCOG

Obstetrics and Gynaecology have been Dr Cardoza’s passion for the last 18 years. Following completion of her postgraduate medical education training at the Manipal University in India, continuing at the University of Leeds Teaching Hospitals in the UK and finishing at the Cambridge deanery has given Pam a sound background in the specialty. This was further augmented when she was given opportunity to work with Prof John De Lancey at the Pelvic Floor Research Group, The University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, USA for 12 months. Dr Cardoza’s previous positions was Consultant at Orange Health Services, NSW and clinical lecturer for medical students teaching at Sydney School of Rural Health Orange.

Pam has various interests outside of her work life including practicing meditation, swimming and developing a keen interest in yoga. Pam believes these interests act as a source of relaxation, especially after a long on-call shift and helps her to unwind. Pam also enjoys trying out her hand at making multicultural cuisine. Pam has travelled widely to America, Canada, parts of Europe and Arabian Gulf.
