MR VLADIMIR BOLSHINSKY

Mr Vladimir Bolshinsky is an experienced, affable and highly skilled colorectal surgeon, who’s aim is to provide his patients with personable and reputable care. He is a co-director of Surgical Health Specialists.

Mr Bolshinsky grew up in Melbourne and completed his medical degree at Monash University in 2006, followed by the Postgraduate Diploma in Surgical Anatomy at The University of Melbourne in 2009. He undertook General Surgical training in Victoria and was awarded a Fellowship by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2014.

Vladimir completed four additional years of subspecialty training in Colorectal Surgery. He was employed by the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio (USA), as a Colorectal Fellow in 2017 and subsequently as a Colorectal Staff Surgeon between 2018 and 2019. The Colorectal department of the Cleveland Clinic is one of the world’s largest referral centres for advanced colorectal pathology and the exposure gained during that period provided Vladimir with an opportunity to become a leader in his field.

Vladimir is a strong proponent of lifelong learning and has thus far authored five book chapters, multiple peer reviewed journal articles and is a member of the highly acclaimed Reviewer’s Guild in the international journal ‘Diseases of the Colon & Rectum’.

Dr Saifulla Syed

Mr Saifulla Syed is a General, Breast Surgeon and Endoscopist with board certified training from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

Following his General Surgery training, Mr Syed subspecialised in Breast Oncoplastic Surgery by completing a Breast Fellowship at Canberra.

In addition to being a GESA certified colonoscopist, Mr Syed is a member of Breast Surgeons of Australia and New Zealand and Australian Society of Breast Diseases.

Mr Syed specialises in breast disease (management of breast cancer, benign breast conditions, nipple discharge, fibroadenoma, breast pain).

Mr Syed other clinical interests include gastroscopy and colonoscopy, and general surgery (including carpal tunnel release, vasectomy, lumps and bumps, skin cancers, ingrown toenail, varicose veins).

Besides clinical work, Mr Syed is passionate about teaching and training junior doctors.

He is a member of Academy of Surgical Educators at the College of Surgeons and is involved in teaching and mentoring medical students and junior doctors.

Mr. Syed has recently commenced private consulting at Gippsland Specialist Clinic and operating at Maryvale Private Hospital.

Mr RuWei Xu

Ruwei completed his general surgical training at Monash Health through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2016. To consolidate his surgical experience, he worked as the General Surgical Fellow at Ballarat Base Hospital for 12 months in 2017. He has been appointed to be a General Surgeon in Latrobe Regional Hospital in 2018.

Ruwei has broad general surgical experiences in gastrointestinal, breast, thyroid and abdominal wall hernia procedures. He acquired advanced laparoscopic skills in major abdominal wall hernias, gallbladder and colon cancers. He also performs minor surgical procedures for treatment of skin cancers, vasectomy, carpal tunnel syndrome and varicose veins.

Ruwei also has significant basic and clinical research experience. His interest in research led to his completion of a Master’s degree from the Royal Melbourne Hospital, the University of Melbourne and a PhD from Monash Medical Centre, Monash University respectively. His current research interest is in the surgical management of abdominal wall hernias.

Breast & General Surgeon

Chere is an Australian trained Surgeon who has a long-term commitment to providing specialist General and Breast Surgery services to regional Australians.

Chere obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Flinders University in 2007 and trained in General Surgery at Monash Health. Chere was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in General Surgery in 2018.

Chere has completed an Emergency and General Surgery Fellowship in Regional Victoria. During this Fellowship she was a Deakin University lecturer, steering committee member for the Sepsis Collaboration and commenced a Masters of Breast Surgery. In 2019 she commenced Breast Cancer subspecialty training (BreastSurgANZ) at the Royal Melbourne and Royal Women’s Hospital.

Chere is involved in clinic research and is currently a principle investigator for a clinical trial in Magseed localisation for Breast Cancer Surgery, intern supervisor for Breast Surgery Services and works as a Consultant Surgeon at West Gippsland Hospital & operated at Maryvale Private Hospital. Chere is GESA accredited.

Chere provides specialisation in breast, general and emergency surgery to the local Gippsland community.

In her spare time, she enjoys her cattle farm with her young family in Neerim South.

Mr Paul Strauss

Paul is a General Surgeon with a particular interest in laparoscopic colorectal surgery, breast surgery and other aspects of general surgery including laparoscopic, cholecystectomy, laparoscopic appendectomy and laparoscopic incisional and groin hernia repairs.

Mr Radha Nair

Consultant Surgeon

Mr Nair studied Medicine in India and then attained surgical fellowship from both India and UK. He
then worked as a consultant surgeon in India and then in Dubai, UAE.
After moving to New Zealand where he worked for 8 years he moved to Northern Territory and
worked as a senior consultant in Alice Springs for 7 years attaining fellowship from Australasian
College of Surgeons. Radha is now the Head of Unit of surgery at CGHS, Sale from 2019.

Mr Nair has a broad spectrum of surgical expertise in thyroid, breast, laparoscopic surgeries, skin
lesions including flaps and grafts, paediatric and adult circumcision, correction of undescended
testis, varicose vein surgery, hernia surgery, gall bladder removal, hand surgeries like ganglion
removal, carpel tunnel release, dupuytrens contracture release, haemorrhoidectomy-open and
stapled, fissure and fistula surgeries.

Radha is a teacher and guide for gastroscopy and colonoscopy and performs all interventions
including, polyp removal, banding of haemorrhoids, arrest of GI bleeds, endovariceal banding, PEG
tube insertion etc.

Radha is a GESA member and supervisor for trainees.
He is a member of Academy of Surgical Educator of RACS, Member of Surgical Oncology of
RACS, mentor for surgical trainees of RACS. He is also credentialed for Gippsland Breast Unit and
an active participant of GRICS ( multidisciplinary team for cancers)

Profile – Mr Radha Nair (General Surgery)

Mr David Scott

After graduating from Monash Medical School, Mr David Scott completed advanced surgical training with the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in Melbourne, and spent one year in England for colorectal and breast surgical training. Upon completion of his formal training Mr. Scott became a Consultant General Surgeon, and now provides a full range of general surgical and bariatric surgical services in Central, West and South Gippsland.

Mr. Scott has an interest in advanced laparoscopic surgical practice, which was enhanced in the first few years of his consultancy working at Lap Surgery Australia, performing laparoscopic gastric banding and other obesity operations, endoscopic hernia repair and colorectal surgery.

Mr David Scott runs Gippsland Bariatric Services and is currently providing a general surgical service at Maryvale Private Hospital.

Mr Scott is a Gippsland based General Surgeon with an interest in advanced laparoscopic surgery, he runs the main Gippsland Bariatric Services office from his consulting rooms at 150 Princes Highway, Traralgon, where all appointments to see Mr. Scott are made. Mr. Scott is the only surgeon performing Sleeve Gastrectomy in Gippsland. Referrals are accepted not only locally but state-wide and from interstate.

Mr Anamitra Sarkar

MBBS, MS (Gen Surgery) FRCS (Edin), FRACS

Mr Anamitra Sarkar completed his MBBS with honours in 1981 and then attained his Master’s Degree in Surgery. Following this he gained higher surgical training in the UK and Ireland and becam a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. Anamitra worked in general surgery in UK and Ireland gaining further surgical experience and training for the next ten years.

Anamitra emigrated to Australis in 2001 and attained the FRACS from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Australia. He has been employed as a Consultant Surgeon and has worked in Gippsland and Melbourne for the past twenty years both public and private hospital.

Anamitra’s training with over thirty years of surgical experience has enabled him to obtain a wide exposure to every aspect of general surgery and it’s related subspecialties. This experience has been gained in India as well as the UK, Ireland and Australia. In addition to the extensive experience he has had in gastrointestinal surgery, he has also had training in biliary, endocrine, vascular, paediatric and urological surgery. In addition he has extensive experience in endoscopy and performs a high volume of colonoscopy and gastroscopies along with polypectomies and procedure for colorectal and gastric haemorrhage. Mr Neil Jayasuriya

Neil is an Australian trained General and Laparoscopic Surgeon, Surgical Endoscopist.

He was trained in Metropolitan University Tertiary Care facilities like Princess Alexandra Hospital, Mater Adult, Gold Coast Hospital, and Regional hospitals in Sunshine coast and Wide bay in Queensland and in Sri Lanka. He has an interest in general surgery, minimally invasive surgery, diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopies, rural surgery with an inclination on GI diseases in particular colonic, Melanoma and skin cancer.

Neil is an accredited endoscopist and has been re-certified with Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA) for colonoscopy.

He is a member of General Surgeons of Australia (GSA), Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS), Royal college of Surgeons Edinburgh (RCSEdin),

He  has dual training  and had been trained in university Surgical units in  Sri Lanka  and   is a board certified as a specialist  in general surgery.  He is a member of College of Surgeons of Sri Lanka (CSSL).

He has an ongoing interest in Surgical Education.

Mr Adrian Aitken

Mr Aitken is a General Surgeon consulting in Latrobe Valley and operating at Maryvale Private Hospital on a regular basis as well as the flexibility to do procedures under local anaesthetic such as carpal tunnel decompression either at Maryvale Private Hospital and his consulting rooms in Sale.

Endoscopy referrals are most welcome, Mr Aitken is GESA certified and reports are given to patient and letter issued the same day of procedure for patients.

Mr Aitken usually sees referred patients within a few days or if the condition is urgent, patient can be seen on the same day if necessary.
