Dr Ahmed Nagla is a Palliative Care Physician who recently began calling Gippsland home. Since his arrival, Ahmed has been making strides in his position as specialist Palliative Care Physician in Gippsland and improving the care of those living with a life limiting illness.
He has lived and worked in Victoria undertaking roles in Emergency Medicine and ICU prior to achieving accreditation as FRACGP in 2015.
Ahmed continues his commitment to peer development and has been an examiner for RACGP since 2018. As a GP, Ahmed undertook further studies in Child Health via University of Sydney before recognising the growing need for specialist Palliative Care Physicians. In 2018, Ahmed began training at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Barwon Health, Alfred Health and Mercy Palliative Care in order to respond to the Palliative Care needs in regional communities.
Ahmed has been a specialist Palliative and Pain Fellow since August 2020 and is currently working as a Palliative Care Physician both in Gippsland and with Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. Ahmed is working closely with the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre on education and research to further develop how palliative care is delivered.
Ahmed is also actively involved in advocating for increased outcomes involving the Gippsland community and has commenced a research project to highlight the unique experience of Gippsland’s palliative care program. Ahmed encourages understanding around the breadth and depth of palliative care including early symptom management and good quality of life.
