Gastroenterologist, Interventional Endoscopist and General Physician
Chris is a Gastroenterologist, Interventional Endoscopist and Specialist General Physician, holding Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP). Originally from Victoria, and with a strong desire to serve rural communities, Chris provides world-class medical expertise to Gippslanders, close to home.
After completing medicine in South Australia, Chris returned home to complete specialist training with Monash Health, Latrobe Regional Hospital, Warragul Hospital, Bendigo Hospital and The Austin, before completing sub-specialty endoscopic training at The Northern and the world-renown Victorian Liver Transplant and Australasian Intestinal Transplant Services based at The Austin. Chris has been extensively trained by world-leaders in interventional endoscopic techniques.
Chris offers general gastroenterology and endoscopy services, including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, capsule endoscopy (Pill Cam), however has a special interest and sub-specialty training in endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS).
Chris maintains an active general medical and extensive gastroenterology practice and will see all referrals, including patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), Functional Gut Disorders, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Liver Disorders and a vast array of general medical problems, including patients referred that require inpatient management at Warragul Hospital, Neerim South Hospital and Maryvale Private Hospital.
Chris strongly believes in offering patients a comprehensive and multidisciplinary specialist service. He strongly advocates for complete patient care that can be best achieved through collaboration with surgeons, physicians and allied health professionals working together in a cohesive single group.
Chris maintains an active teaching appointment as Associate Professor of Medicine with The University of Melbourne and Monash University, having published more than 25 articles and abstracts in peer-reviewed journals. During his spare time, Chris enjoys tending to his 80-acre beef cattle farm in Neerim South, with his partner, young son and baby daughter.
