Mr Justin James

Mr. Justin James offers individualised, expert, specialist surgical care for breast and endocrine conditions. He is passionate about personalised care for his patients and the fight against breast cancer. He offers prompt assessment of symptoms and help curate a treatment plan tailored to meet individual needs.

Since 2019, Dr James has been practicing Breast and Endocrine Surgery. His public appointments are at Eastern Health and Goulburn Valley Health.

CREDENTIALS: Justin completed specialist general surgical training at Monash Health and obtained the Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) fellowship in 2014. In subsequent years, he received his post-fellowship breast and endocrine surgery training at Monash Health, Royal Perth Hospital, Eastern Health (Melbourne), and Robina Hospital (Gold Coast).

AREAS OF SPECIALISATION: Breast Surgery: Dr James performs modern oncoplastic breast surgery. Oncoplastic breast surgery is a breast surgical care technique that incorporates aesthetic and effective cancer surgery principles to optimise the quality of life after cancer treatment. Endocrine Surgery: He can offer comprehensive assessment and care of all thyroid and parathyroid gland-related surgical conditions. General Surgery: He can also offer prompt specialist care for common general surgical conditions, such as skin lesions, abdominal wall (hernia), and gall bladder diseases.

Dr Edwina Moore

Dr Edwina Moore is a compassionate and highly skillful breast and endocrine surgeon and is a founding member of Surgical Health Specialists. She is meticulous in all aspects of her work and personal life.

Edwina graduated from the University of Tasmania with First Class Honours and two academic prizes in 2006. She undertook surgical training at The Alfred Hospital, obtaining a fellowship in General Surgery in 2015.

Subsequently, Edwina completed three years of subspecialty training in breast and endocrine surgery. She was appointed as a Staff Specialist of the Breast, Endocrine and Acute Care Surgery Unit at the Royal Hobart Hospital in 2016. Edwina was then appointed by the Department of Endocrine Surgery, at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic (OH, USA), as a Clinical and Research Fellow in 2017 and subsequently as a Clinical Associate (junior faculty) in 2018/19.

Edwina has, thus far, authored four book chapters and multiple peer reviewed journal articles. She was awarded the top prize for research for two years by the Diabetes and Metabolism Institute at the Cleveland Clinic.

Aside from being a surgeon, Edwina is also a very proud mother of two delightful little children and is married to Vladimir Bolshinsky (colorectal surgeon). She is an enthusiastic committee member of the Women in Surgery Section of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

Edwina’s special interests include:

  • Diagnostic ultrasound and fine needle aspiration – ‘A one stop shop for thyroid nodules’
  • Thyroid surgery: for thyroid cancer, functional thyroid disease (eg. Graves’) and multinodular goitres and conditions that require re-operation
  • Parathyroid surgery: for primary, secondary or tertiary disease
  • Adrenal surgery: all aspects of investigation and surgical management, including adrenal incidentalomas
  • Breast surgery: for benign breast lesions and breast cancer
  • Lymph node biopsies and node basin dissections
  • Screening and surveillance of familial endocrinopathies (eg. FAP)
  • ‘Lumps and bumps’

Breast & General Surgeon

Chere is an Australian trained Surgeon who has a long-term commitment to providing specialist General and Breast Surgery services to regional Australians.

Chere obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Flinders University in 2007 and trained in General Surgery at Monash Health. Chere was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in General Surgery in 2018.

Chere has completed an Emergency and General Surgery Fellowship in Regional Victoria. During this Fellowship she was a Deakin University lecturer, steering committee member for the Sepsis Collaboration and commenced a Masters of Breast Surgery. In 2019 she commenced Breast Cancer subspecialty training (BreastSurgANZ) at the Royal Melbourne and Royal Women’s Hospital.

Chere is involved in clinic research and is currently a principle investigator for a clinical trial in Magseed localisation for Breast Cancer Surgery, intern supervisor for Breast Surgery Services and works as a Consultant Surgeon at West Gippsland Hospital & operated at Maryvale Private Hospital. Chere is GESA accredited.

Chere provides specialisation in breast, general and emergency surgery to the local Gippsland community.

In her spare time, she enjoys her cattle farm with her young family in Neerim South.

Mr Paul Strauss

Paul is a General Surgeon with a particular interest in laparoscopic colorectal surgery, breast surgery and other aspects of general surgery including laparoscopic, cholecystectomy, laparoscopic appendectomy and laparoscopic incisional and groin hernia repairs.
