Apprentice Chef – (2nd year preferred) (Certificate III in Commercial Cookery- SIT30816)

Maryvale Private Hospital has a strong commitment to grow, develop and foster talent within its team and as an Apprentice Chef this would be a great step in your career development.

The Position

We currently have a unique opportunity for an Apprentice Chef to join our dynamic Catering Team. We are looking for an energetic, positive person that is passionate about food and thrives working in a team environment.

As the Apprentice Chef you will be heavily involved in the Maryvale Private Hospital Catering Team functionality. You will learn from an energetic multi-discipline team in the importance of providing a constant high standard of food production, dietary requirements for patients, doctors, staff, visitors and other hospital visitors.

Throughout your apprenticeship you will be exposed to all the branches of cooking, preparation of food, planning meals, and any general and specific duties relating to food preparation, service and an overall compliance with Maryvale’s Food Safety Program.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Completed (or almost completed) your first year as an Apprentice Chef.
  • A genuine passion for the food and hospitality within the health sector.
  • Be keen to learn and develop your skills as an apprentice.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Observation and awareness of Maryvale Private Hospital’s Mission Statement.
  • Knowledge of Food Hygiene Procedures.
  • An ability to work within a team environment and to take instruction.
  • Demonstrated high-level Customer Service focus.
  • High level of organisational and time management skills.
  • A high level of hygiene standards and personal presentation.
  • Knowledge of manual handling principles and environmental hygiene standards

Ward Orderly
Casual Positions

The Role

Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, the Orderly is responsible for the safe and efficient transfer of patients, distributing internal mail and linen, assisting with environmental services, collection and delivery of equipment and other duties to support the Hospital as required.

Essential Criteria

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, staff and other medical and non-medical personnel
  • Strong teamwork focus
  • Effective Time Management and Organisational skills
  • Genuine interest and desire to help people
  • Must be flexible and able to work different day/hours of the week.

Desirable Criteria

  • Current Orderly experience within the Health Sector
  • Experience in Operating Room Equipment
  • Certificate III in Health Services Assistant, or studying towards.
  • Certificate III in Sterilisation or above.

Specific on-the-job training will be provided to the right candidate.

Casual Positions

The Roles

Maryvale Private Hospital is seeking Registered and Enrolled Nurses to join our friendly, supportive Ward team on day, afternoon and night duty who pride themselves on delivering high quality patient care.

We are also seeking Nurses with demonstrated experience in Scrub/Scout, Anaesthetics and Recovery to join our dedicated and friendly Operating Theatre team.

As a valued staff member at MPH you will play a key role in providing the best possible outcomes for our patients by providing the absolute best possible care.

Successful applicants must be suitably experienced and have a commitment to providing excellent standards of care and exceptional communication skills, while working in a supportive team environment. Applicants need to be flexible and adaptable and have an ongoing commitment to professional development and education.

Essential Criteria for both positions:

  • Relevant experience in Medical and/or Surgical setting
  • Current registration with AHPRA
  • Commitment to ensuring the levels of service to patients is always of a high standard
  • Demonstrate excellence in verbal and written communication skills and the ability to liaise with a variety of stakeholders both internally and externally at various levels
  • Ability to work efficiently in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Be innovative and adaptable to change processes
  • A strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to role model and promote the MPH core values
  • Commitment to quality and risk management
  • Dedicated interest in ongoing professional development
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts across all hours

  • Current acute medical and/or surgical nursing experience within the Private Health sector.
