Mr Nathan Hayward

B.MedSci M.B.,B.S (Hons) DipSurgAnat FRACS (OHNS)Mr Nathan Hayward is an Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgeon and Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) with comprehensive training in all aspects of general adult and paediatric ENT Surgery. In addition, he has completed further sub-specialty training in the surgical management of Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA), Snoring and Sleep Disordered Breathing in children and adults. He is one of very few surgeons in Australia to have undertaken expert training in Sleep Surgery. Following Internship, Surgical residency, and a period of accredited training in General Surgery he was successful in gaining entry onto the training program for Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery – rotating through major Victorian Hospitals.Dr Hayward is an invited speaker at International and National meetings (involving his sub-specialty interest in Sleep Surgery) and is author/co-author on several peer reviewed publications. He is dedicated to the progress of his field through research and innovation.Dr Hayward holds a public hospital appointment at Monash Health as a Consultant Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgeon and is committed to the education and guidance of training junior doctors and surgeons. Nathan sees private patients at ENT Specialists Group locations – Heidelberg, Hawthorn and the City. He operates privately at several metropolitan locations and visits regional centres regularly. Nathan consults and operates at Maryvale Private Hospital.Nathan welcomes referrals for all ENT conditions. He is committed to providing comprehensive specialist care to his patients, and is dedicated to achieving the best outcomes possible for all.When away from work Nathan enjoys spending time with his wife and young family, trying to stay fit and cheering on the Hawks.

Dr Upasna Pratap

Dr Upasna Pratap (Paz) graduated from the University of Tasmania with First Class Honours in 2006.  She completed her training in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, in 2013 becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS).Following this, she undertook a Fellowship in Rhinology and Anterior Skull Base Surgery specialising in nose & sinus surgery, complex rhinoplasty and trans-nasal surgery into the intracranial cavity in Melbourne.  She then completed a second Fellowship in London in Head and Neck Surgery specialising in benign and malignant conditions of the head and neck, including thyroid disease.Her current public appointments include the Alfred Hospital, The Royal Melbourne Hospital and Eastern Health.Dr Pratap consults in Warragul once a week and operates in both Warragul and Maryvale.  Routine ENT procedures such as tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, grommets, nose and sinus surgery and basic head and neck surgery is undertaken here.  She has the ability to care for patients in a Metropolitan setting if more complex, multi-disciplinary care is required.  This includes the ability to add patients directly on to the waiting list if required.Dr Pratap herself is originally the small township of St Marys in Tasmania where she completed her primary and secondary education and hence has an understanding of the rewards and challenges of life in a rural or regional setting.Undergraduate QualificationsBachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of SurgeryGraduated with First Class Honours in 2006Ear Nose and Throat Training (5 years)Rotated through the major hospitals in Victoria

Mr Adnan Safdar

M.B., B.S., F.R.C.S., F.R.A.C.S. (ORL-HNS)

Mr Safdar received his basic surgical training in Ireland. He was then admitted as a Specialist registrar in the Otolaryngology/ Head and Neck Surgery training program of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He obtained his Post Graduate diploma in Otolaryngology from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. Following this he completed two Fellowships in Head and Neck surgery at Peter McCallum Cancer Institute, Western Hospital and Monash Medical Centre in Melbourne. Mr Safdar was admitted to The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons section of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery in 2008.  Mr Safdar has had several publications and has presented papers at both local and international meetings in his speciality. His most recent publication was in the Head and Neck Journal in September 2013.Mr Safdar has been actively involved in teaching Medical students, Nurses and registrars. He also has a continued interest in learning new techniques and improving his surgical skills for which he attends several conferences and courses each year.Mr Safdar has also been part of a team of ENT surgeons visiting Cambodia for the last three years performing free ear surgery.His  scope of practice spans the full length and breadth of the specialty of Otolaryngology/ Head and Neck surgery. He has a special interest in both benign and malignant  pathology of the head and neck, ear disease, snoring and paediatric otolaryngology.
